Here's what I need you to do...

Hi Christine,
The Trend is the fact that South Africa is becoming increasingly popular as a Wedding Destination - especially now in 2016, since that the Dollar/Pound has strengthened so much against our currency, the Rand (ZAR). So it's currently highly affordable with a plethora of magnificent Venues countrywide.
Added to that, outdoor Weddings Ceremonies (at Beaches/Waterfalls) are popular too, and we still have the portable (powered) PA systems that can facilitate areas like this. With an increased demand for this type of service in 2015, we foresee the need growing this year too.
Our apologies if this was not clear in the original post.
Kind regards,
Gerard
Oi Christine,
This was actually a topic from our Trends Blog last week on AnyDayDJ and is something I feel very strong about with couples...

Who says you have to have the traditional songs that everyone knows and loves at your reception? Want to know a little secret? Your wedding DJ (hopefully us!) works for you, not your guests. Introduce your guests to some of your favorite songs or maybe songs that mean a lot to your relationship. 2016 weddings are breaking the limits so go ahead and break out that alternative, gospel, bluegrass, jazz or anything else that tickles your fancy to make your day uniquely you! Play what you like!
Hi Christine,
Many of our clients have indicated their dislike of the Bouquet & Garter Ceremony or the lack of single guests at their reception. One growing trend is to do something different but still present the Bouquet at the Reception. ATMOSPHERE PRODUCTIONS has a suitable alternative called “The Anniversary Celebration Dance”, which become very popular. Here’s how it works:
We invite ALL married couples to the dance floor (including the Bride & Groom) and then play “Through The Years” Kenny Rogers, “Holding Back The Years” Simply Red or “Grow Old With Me” Mary Chapin Carpenter (or any of the couples favorite).
After 30 seconds we will invite everyone who has been married for 5 years or less to move to the edge of the dance floor and start forming a circle with the Bride & Groom. We ask them NOT to sit down. We will do this for 10, 15, 20 years etc. until we have the longest married couple in the center of the dance floor. At this point the Bride & Groom will present the Bouquet to the couple and the DJ will then ask the longest married couple for any advice for our newlyweds. This is then followed by a love song, chosen by the Bride & Groom, inviting everyone to join them and the longest married couple on the dance floor.
This is a proven way to get the married guests involved in the reception, and an excellent idea if you have very few single guests attending your wedding reception.

One of the trends we're looking forward to in the coming year are the number of couples that we've talked to that are understanding the importance of a DJ or band for their reception, rather than doing it themselves. Last year, I sat down to figure out how much couples could save by doing the music themselves, and discovered something shocking. It is cheaper to hire a DJ.

In the piece, I looked at the material of everything and set monetary values to all of the intangibles that go into setting a musical playlist. It also showed that we should charge more for our DJ services because the DJ brings along with him/her, the knowledge and experience to keep things moving along.
Social media has done wonders for DJs in the last decade and couples have seen the horror stories and videos online. It's a trend that we hope really takes over in 2016 and stays that way for years. There are always going to be couples who think they can do it to save a few bucks, but they won't.
Some of the other trends that we've seen, at least in the DC area, are the non-traditional sites for weddings. More and more are moving away from hotels and more toward unique settings like renting out a restaurant, a mall, or other similar venue rather than the hotel ballroom. I like this as it allows couples to better express themselves at their ceremonies and receptions, and that's what the day is all about, the couple. I love seeing the personal touches couples put on their wedding and how they put parts of themselves into their big day.
We've also seen a lot more of the younger brides starting to book more and more photo booths.
Hi, Christine -
One trend that we have seen making a strong comeback is having a live musician to sing and perform couples' first dance songs. They have really taken it to the next level as well, hiring some pretty big local talent to perform for them. Being in Memphis really helps since we have such a huge professional music community here. It has been a treat to be a part of something this special, and it helps us grow from just being great DJs to being great DJs AND sound engineers :)
Thanks for reaching out to us for our input!
Cheers -

Hi Christine.
A trend we are seeing is clients who want more than just music. They want a more emotionally engaging experience. Of course music is important, but in these digital days, music is readily available. In Canada, DJs must be licensed, and we have such a legalizing mechanism. Lighting is big, both uplighting and dance floor for a night club look. But, despite this technical backdrop, the way the DJ pulls it all together, to create a truly entertaining memorable event and keep the guests there having fun all night is even more demanding than just playing music. Why? Because the range of music styles, the extent to which people have access to music anywhere anytime, the range of guests' ages ranging from young kids to grandparents creates a real challenge. To me, the common thread is the emotional connection that can be made to span these ranges and offer a common ground - the dance floor. It's so nice to see young children and teens dancing the twist and older guests doing the "Uptown Funk". Age differences melt away, laughter and cheering washes across the room and everyone feels like one big happy family. This is why I've run Perpetual Rhythms and DJ'd for 35 years and still have a lot left to offer.
Hi Christine,
Brides today want to hear their own unique music as they walk down the aisle. Traditional music is fine, but only if that is what the couple wants. Music creates an experience; in today's weddings, experience is King!

These are all great. Thanks again.
RRRMusicDJService.com has been in business for 25 years. Over the years I've seen many changes taking place. One of the things I've noticed is that the receptions have become less formal than in the past. Brides and Grooms insert their own unique personality into their events and I'm seeing more theme receptions. I recently did a 50's style Grease wedding where all the guests dressed in costume. We all had a great time dancing to the oldies. We are also doing slide shows of important moments in the lives of the couple. The Moms and Dads are also more involved in the reception and get on the dance floor and help to get the party in high gear. The main thing is to remember that this is a once in a lifetime event and your choice of a DJ can make or break your special day.
Hi Christine,
One wedding trend of 2016 I would like to share is taking the harp from an angelic and eloquent instrument at the beginning of the ceremony to a fun and funky instrument for the recessional. The wedding ceremony is a celebration and a special moment in time. The bride processes in to Pachelbel Canon in D or Mendelssohn's Bridal March and as the couple celebrate pronoucement they recess to Pharell's Happy. Yes.... I can play these selections on the harp.
My clients appreciate that I can move the music from traditional selections to non"traditional harp selections.

The Uniqueness of the Reception is becoming the thing, From a Holloween custume wedding to Barefoot barn wedding, From Traditional with a flare to unconventional Zombie wedding. The reception is where the focus is on, using Multi-talented DJ's to Live Music. from face painting to the Popular Photo Booth. Wedding receptions are becoming more than eat, drink, dance.... They are adding and HAVE FUN! Every bride wants to have "The Wedding" one people will be talking about for years. This is their day and they want it to be the best. So the trend is Fun...get your guest involved. Don't let them just sit at the table and talk, get them up to enjoy the activities. Make sure your DJ can do more than just put on another song, find one with personality, one that will liven up the crowd. Get them dancing having fun in groups. Remember you are trying to join two families together. This is the Social event of the year...make it so. Another great way to bring everyone together is with a Photo Booth. When hiring a photo booth, see if they will do an open booth format so more than 4 People can get in the picture, see if you can fit 20... The more the merrier. Make sure they have great props, as the guest warm up the zanier it gets.
