Hello Wedding Professionals,

What free exposure for your wedding business?  Then, tell me your 2013 wedding predictions!

I'm preparing a blog post that will be published in January of 2013, which will be called: 2013 Wedding Predictions.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on what those predictions and trends will be.  I'll pick the 10 best (and most-likely-to-occur predictions).  Then, when I create the blog, I'll mention your business name.  I'll also link your prediction to your website or blog.  So, this is a great way for you to get a ton of free exposure for your business.

What should you do???

  1. Please share 1-2 wedding industry predictions or trends below in this discussion thread.  Share your thoughts on color trends, fashion, decor, music, etiquette - you name it.  See an example below.
  2. Feel free to include 1-2 photos in your submission to increase your chances of getting picked.  If you do include a photo, please link it to the webpage where it was originally found or give credit to the photographer.
  3. Be sure to include your business name as well as a link to your website and/or blog.

Thanks in advance for your help.  I can't wait to see what you think will happen to weddings in the New Year!

2013 Wedding Prediction: increase in use of unique venues such as farms and wineries on the outskirts of towns, and creative urban settings such as antiques warehouses, art galleries, and photography studios such as our vintage Chicago loft studio.

In 2013 more couples will use "green" or eco-friendly vendors or services.  Couples are looking for vendors who are socially conscious and will look for ways to give back with their wedding day to causes that they support and believe in.

More unique reception entertainment.  In 2012 we saw fire eaters, mariachi bands, and elaborate custom photobooths.  This couple opted for Nashville's premiere dueling piano players instead of the typical band or DJ to provide music and entertainment for their reception.  Couples will look to non-traditional reception entertainment to create spectacle and ensure that their wedding is talked about and remembered for a long time to come.

Hi Christine!

I think the Art Deco trend is going to be big for 2013. It has elements of the vintage trend that was so big in 2012, such as cut glass decorations, lace and pearls. But it's more formal with it's old Hollywood vibe - eg. satin, fine jewelry, fur accents, feathers.

It's great for a more formal setting because the color scheme is often white, black and gold although silver is a great choice too. I've attached an image for inspiration from Ceci NY blog showing one of the display windows at Bergdorf Goodman.

As a cake designer, I'm definitely inspired by Art Deco/Great Gatsby-esque decor and fashion and it's showing up in my cake designs for an upcoming bridal show.

Thanks!

2013 Wedding Prediciton:  Candy buffets....a favor that everyone enjoys and doesn't end up in the back of a kitchen drawer!  They are the perfect centerpiece that allows you to tie into your color scheme and for those couples who like to spice it up a bit...themes are a big hit too.  Everything from Harry Potter to nostalgic and by the way...it's not the kiddos who go crazy over these favors!

Hi Christine,

My prediction for 2013 is an increase in rural country farm or rustic barn wedding themes. They are fun and casual and can be dressed up or down. Brides seems to love the rustic, shabby chic look. Wearing a lace dress with cowboy boots and carrying that through their venue of a rustic wooden barn which they decorate with lots of flowers-usually sunflowers.

Thanks for your consideration!

One of my predictions (and hope) is that wedding dresses with some type of straps or sleeves will return.  I believe in Colorado the trend will continue for outdoor, diy, country type weddings.

Hi Christine,

I am predicting that mint green will be a color trend for 2013 brides with a variety of colors; yellow, brown, and bright colors.  The majority of my brides are requesting mint green and jade colors and I think it will be very poplar among brides for 2013.  Also, bouquets will be bright and a mixed with different types of flowers.

Hi Christine,

Girls love pearls! Lately I have seen a huge surge in the use of pearls in everything from wedding decorations, bouquet accents and bridal jewelry. They work very well with today's wedding themes like "beach", "glam" and "vintage". I expect this trend to grow and continue through 2013.  Here are a few examples of pearl ideas from our website:

Hi Christine,

What a great idea and great opportunity. I did a blog post about my 2013 wedding predictions that you can review to see my full predication, but here it is in a nutshell:

i predict that the major wedding theme in 2013 weddings will be...drum roll...late victorian luxury, flapper style, art deco. by that i mean, rich colors (think aubergine, scarlet, royal blue) or all bright whites, thick velvet, chunky crystal, candelabras, lots of lace, fringe, graceful dresses (think claire pettibone), hairpins and tiaras. all this will be done with an elegant simplicity, it won't be themey or tacky. i'm sort of feeling a kinfolk magazine-type hipness layered with rich textures and an air of sophistication.

i base my prediction on a few things:

  1. downton abbey's popularity will continue to grow especially with a wedding in season 3
  2. the remake of the great gatsby is coming out in 2013 (can't wait!)
  3. as we slowly climb out of our recession the comfy barn wedding will morph into a more sophisticaed affair
  4. my gut

a wedding like this one is sort of what i'm seeing but less obvious in it's theme. more like this one

dresses like this

decor like this

flowers like this

hairpieces like this

This was fun, thanks!

A Sweet Start

My Blog

One trend that I have started to notice in home decor, all over Etsy and Pinterest and is now making its way into weddings is the use of CHEVRON pattern.  I am using it right now for my son's train themed Birthday Party but I expect to see a lot more of it next year with my wedding clients.  These modern, contemporary and bold looking pattern looks gorgeous on invites and other stationary, linens and table runners and attire (I'm thinking men's ties and socks).

Check out this pastel hued bouquet wrapped with chevron ribbon and place setting with a Chevron napkin from www.trendybride.nethttp://www.trendybride.net/blog/chevron-wedding-decor-ideas/
