Hi I have been told by a weddingplanner that she gets invited as  guest to the weddings she coordinates. Is that usual? I mean if i am getting paid to ccordinte a wedding I don't see myself as a guest and planner at a wedding. I have to be in the background to supervise everything regarding the event. At least that's how I see it.

What is your opinion about this matter?

A planner should be there on the day... ensuring that everything goes according to plan, he/she should be working not being a guest... As an event designer, if I am invited to a wedding I have been working on, I politely and professionally decline the invitation... I was hired to do a job.  If I make friends with the couple or person, then we "hang out" some other time.  On that day I need to be focused on why I am there and what I'm there to do, so I can't imagine a wedding planner having the time to be a guest.

Our business wears many hats, we work with the happy couple while planning the wedding,  we design the decor, we also setup and we manage the affair. So, yes, we do stay all night and usually are the last ones to leave. Thereby, insuring that not only OUR job is done correctly, but everyone else's is as well. We are always invited by the couple as guests. It is not expected, nor would we have a problem if we were not. But, to date, it has never failed. We have tried to beg off, but usually the Bride ends up with tears in her eyes. We eat on the fly, because, yes, absolutely, there is no time to just sit and enjoy!! But we handle our business and the couple's feelings don't end up hurt in the process...hope this helps!!
I think it depends on whether she is doing day-of coordination, or if her job at that point is pretty much over. If she is going to still be running around coordinating everything, then she wouldn't have time to be a guest and it would be distracting. But if she has done all the planning leading up to the wedding day and you see her as a friend, you'll probably want to invite her. It's really your choice.
I have had the experience of planning and being invited as a guest as well.  However, I usually have help with me so I am overseeing everything until my client is relaxed.  I agree that you have to hire the right vendors that you know and staff that is helping to coordinate this day.  I remember being a guest once and as I was sitting there, noticed a pin-spot shining in someone's face at their table.  I got up from the table and had to argue with the Caterer to fix the pin-spot since his staff was the only one able to get up on a ladder at that time of the event.  The floral designers were not around at this point.  Needless to say, being a guest, is not always relaxing so my point is you can accept but always be on your toes.  Keep smiling and making sure your client is very happy:)
Yes! you are wright. If we are the wedding planner ,we are not guest. The wedding planner has to take the responsibility and organize the wedding ceremony successfully. If any couples need help in wedding planning, can use the wedding app and get help from it.
